Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our service.

How much does junk removal cost in NYC?
Most NYC jobs $275-$950 by size. Single items $125-$225. Full apartments $700-$1,650. Full houses $1,800-$4,500. We quote on the phone after a 2-minute description or a few photos. Fixed-price, never hourly.
What is the minimum charge for junk removal?
Our minimum is $125 - covers the trip, two-person crew, and disposal at a licensed C&D facility for any single item up to one piece of furniture.
Why is 1-800-GOT-JUNK so expensive?
National chains charge a per-cubic-foot rate that escalates fast - typical full-truck quotes run $850-$1,400 in NYC. We're a local crew with our own truck and lower overhead, so the same load typically saves you 30-45%.
What's the cheapest way to get rid of junk?
Cheapest legal option is curbside NYC DSNY bulk-trash pickup. For anything they won't take (mattresses, construction debris, hot tubs), a licensed hauler beats DIY alternatives once you factor in disposal fees and lost weekend hours.
How do I get rid of bulk items in NYC?
Three options: (1) NYC DSNY bulk pickup - free but limited to 6 items per pickup day, scheduled by appointment; (2) donation centers - only for usable items; (3) licensed hauler - handles everything in one visit with documentation.
What's included in a junk removal quote?
Two-person crew, truck, drive-time, all labor (walk-up included, no stair fees, no per-item charges), disposal at a registered C&D facility, weight tickets, donation receipts for items with life. No add-ons for stairs.
How quickly can you arrive?
Same-day across NYC + Nassau if booked before noon. Standard response 30-45 minutes Brooklyn/Queens, 45-60 Manhattan, 60-90 Staten Island.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes - DOB-registered, $2M general liability, OSHA-30 supervisors. COI emailed to managing agent within the hour for co-op buildings.
Do you give a quote on the phone?
Yes for most jobs. 2-minute description + photos works for 80% of pickups. Larger projects (full demolitions, big estate cleanouts) require a quick on-site walkthrough - also free.
Do you donate items in good condition?
Yes - donation-first when items still have life. Housing Works, Habitat ReStore, St. Vincent de Paul, local charities. Tax-deductible receipts emailed same-day.
Do you take refrigerators and appliances?
Yes - EPA-compliant Freon recovery on fridges, freezers, and AC units. Stand-alone appliance removal $125-$245. See appliance removal.
Do you remove mattresses?
Yes - all sizes. EPS recycling compliant. $125-$185 per mattress. No NYC mattress bag required (we have our own protective covers). See mattress disposal.
